Representative Simon Abi Ramia, Chairman of the Lebanese-French Parliamentary Friendship Committee, issued a statement in which he stressed the continuation of the constructive French role towards Lebanon, through a clear vision that gives priority to protecting Lebanon’s interests, defending its sovereignty and independence, and expanding state control over its entire territory.
Abi Ramia explained that this approach expresses a firm French commitment to supporting Lebanon in all circumstances, pointing to the essential role played by French President Emmanuel Macron, as he is one of the international parties most closely communicating with the Lebanese presidency, to convey Lebanon’s concerns to decision-making centers, especially Washington.
He pointed out that Macron is in contact with international leaders, including US President Donald Trump and regional officials, with the aim of protecting Lebanon’s interests.
He also praised the role of the French Ambassador to Lebanon, Hervé Magro, in pursuing this path, and revealed that he had made a series of contacts with officials in the French Parliament, the Presidency, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the aim of strengthening diplomatic pressure.
Abi Ramia stressed the importance of coordinated action to exert positive pressure on the course of international negotiations, demanding that any American-Iranian negotiations include “a clear clause for a ceasefire in Lebanon.”
He stressed the importance of the French role in direct negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, to avoid leaving Lebanon alone, calling on French officials to visit Lebanon and learn about the situation on the ground, by holding meetings and visiting the affected areas.
He believed that this step would support the efforts made to end the suffering of the Lebanese people due to the war.
