Saudi source: Limited damage to the energy sector after the attack

An official source in the Saudi Ministry of Energy reported that vital energy facilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were subjected to a series of attacks recently. These attacks included oil and gas production facilities, transportation and refining facilities, and petrochemical facilities, in addition to the electricity sector in the city of Riyadh, the Eastern Province and Yanbu Industrial City. These attacks resulted in the death of an industrial security employee at the Saudi Energy Company, and the injury of seven other company employees. It also led to the disruption of some operational operations in major facilities within the energy system.

These targets included one of the pumping stations on the vital East-West pipeline, causing the loss of about 700,000 barrels per day of pumping volumes through this line, which is considered a vital route for supplying global markets at the present time.

In addition, the Manifa production plant was targeted, causing its production to decrease by approximately 300,000 barrels per day from its production capacity. Earlier, the Khurais plant was subjected to a similar attack, which led to a decrease in its production by 300,000 barrels per day from its production capacity, bringing the total decrease in the Kingdom’s production capacity to 600,000 barrels per day.

The attacks also affected major refining facilities, including SATORP facilities in Jubail, Ras Tanura Refinery, SAMREF Refinery in Yanbu, and Riyadh Refinery, directly affecting exports of refined products to global markets.

Ju’aymah processing facilities were also hit by fires, negatively impacting exports of petroleum gas liquids and natural gas liquids.
