The English Football Association announced on Thursday that the England national team will play two friendly matches against New Zealand and Costa Rica in the cities of Tampa and Orlando in preparation for the 2026 World Cup.
On June 6, the England national team will face New Zealand, which is returning to the World Cup for the first time since 2010, and then will meet Costa Rica four days later, which previously qualified for the quarter-finals in the 2014 edition. The Federation stated in its statement that these two matches are an essential part of the preparation camp that will take place in southern Florida, before moving to the team’s headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri, during the tournament.
The “England” team will begin its tournament in Group Twelve against “Croatia” on July 17, after reaching the quarter-finals in the previous edition.
