The Ansariya municipality issued a statement stating that the town was subjected to an Israeli attack this morning. This attack targeted the Al-Husseiniya building, which includes “the municipal center, the headquarters of the Islamic Message Scouts, a health clinic affiliated with the charitable association, in addition to a center for the Tala’i Ansariyya Club.”
The municipality confirmed that this “affects facilities of an official, religious, charitable and sports nature that serve the members of society without exception,” and saw this attack as a clear attack on the safety and stability of the population.
The municipality also stressed its “condemnation in the strongest terms of this unjustified targeting,” and indicated that it is “a clear violation of all human values and norms,” denouncing the targeting of charitable, health, and official institutions that were established to serve citizens.
The municipality called on the state to assume its full responsibilities, and called for “immediate and serious action to put an end to these attacks, ensure the protection of citizens and their institutions, and prevent the recurrence of what threatens civil peace.”
The statement concluded by emphasizing “adherence to rights and dignity, and standing together in the face of everything that targets the security of the nation and its people.”
This escalation comes as part of a series of ongoing Israeli raids on areas in southern Lebanon. During the last hours, these raids targeted towns in the Nabatieh and Tyre regions, in addition to the southern suburb of Beirut, leading to the death and injury of a number of citizens.
These raids are accompanied by warning announcements issued by “Israeli Army Spokesman Avichai Adraee,” and include southern villages and towns, in light of the escalation in the pace of field operations and the expansion of the scope of targeting to include civilian and service facilities.
Recently, it has been noted that sites close to health and charitable institutions have been targeted, which raises increasing concern about the humanitarian and security repercussions, in light of the continuing movement of displacement from the affected areas and increasing pressure on infrastructure and basic services.
