
Kuwait announced on Sunday that two electrical power generation and water distillation plants had been targeted by Iranian drones.
In a statement published by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy on its account in “X”, citing the Ministry’s official spokeswoman, Fatima Abbas Gohar Hayat, she explained that “two electrical power and water distillation stations were targeted by hostile drones as a result of the sinful Iranian aggression, which resulted in serious material damage and two electricity generation units being out of service, without any human casualties recorded.”
The spokeswoman confirmed that “the technical and emergency teams began their work in accordance with the approved emergency plans, in coordination with the relevant authorities, to ensure the safety and stability of the electricity and water systems, as they represent a top priority, and that all technical teams are working around the clock to ensure continuity of services.”
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Finance had also stated in a post on its account in “X” that “the building of the Ministries Complex in Kuwait City was targeted on Saturday evening by a hostile drone as a result of the sinful Iranian aggression, which resulted in material damage to the building, without recording any human casualties.”
The Ministry added: “The emergency teams and competent authorities began their duties immediately after the accident occurred, in accordance with the approved procedures.”
She continued: “It was decided that work on Sunday, April 5, 2026, will be remote for employees of the Ministries Complex, with the reception of auditors postponed during this day, and work will resume in person on Monday, April 6, 2026, within the framework of the approved precautionary measures, provided that you will be informed of any developments later.”
The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation also announced early Sunday morning that the oil sector complex located in the Shuwaikh area, which includes the corporation and the Ministry of Oil, was attacked by drones, which led to a fire in the building.
The Corporation explained in a statement to Kuwait News Agency that emergency and firefighting teams immediately began dealing with the fire.
In a post on Sunday morning, the General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army stated: “Kuwait air defenses are currently responding to missile attacks and enemy drones.”
