Joachim Loew, the former coach of the German national team, confirmed that the news that spoke about holding discussions between him and the Ghanaian national team to take over the task of coaching them in the 2026 World Cup was incorrect.
This statement came from Loew in response to the reports that spread recently about his imminent assumption of leadership of the “Black Stars” team, in conjunction with the Ghanaian Federation continuing to search for a new coach to succeed Otto Adu.
With “Sky Sports Germany,” Loew stated, “No one from Ghana spoke to me officially.”
He also made it clear that he has no intention of retiring at the present time, and indicated that he may return to the field of coaching if he receives a suitable offer and a good opportunity that is commensurate with his long experience.
It is noteworthy that Loew has a history full of achievements with the German national team, as he led them to win the 2014 World Cup and the 2017 Confederations Cup, in addition to reaching the final of the 2008 European Cup and the semi-finals of the 2010 World Cup.
This issue comes at a critical period that the Ghanaian national team is going through following its two defeats in the recent friendly matches against Germany and Austria, and less than three months before the start of the 2026 World Cup, as the national team is in a group that includes teams such as England, Croatia and Panama.
