Father Charbel Bou Abboud, Director of the Antonine Technical Institute in Dekwaneh, explained, in the context of the 315 Social Program, that Good Friday is a spiritual station of utmost importance for the believer, as it is not just a passing historical memory, but rather a sincere call to embody the meanings of sacrifice, love and tolerance in our daily lives. He added that the suffering of Christ carries a great message of humanity and faith, and confirms that pain is not the end, but rather it may be the beginning of hope and salvation.
He pointed out that understanding the meaning of pain in the Christian faith helps people, especially young people, deal with life’s difficulties with deeper understanding, in a world that avoids suffering. The Passion of Christ gives meaning to man’s individual suffering, opens a window to hope for him, and teaches him that forgiveness is strength, citing the position of Christ who forgave even those who crucified him.
Regarding the unification of Christian holidays, he noted that the unification of celebration, especially on Easter, carries a great spiritual and human dimension, as it enhances the unity of believers and expresses one faith despite differences. He added that this unification represents an important step towards greater rapprochement between the churches, despite the historical and calendar challenges that still exist.
He concluded his speech by emphasizing that this spiritual period carries a message of hope, calling on believers to move from pain to resurrection, from sadness to joy, and from division to unity, so that faith remains alive in hearts and embodied in daily life.
