The Israeli army announced today that three of its soldiers were injured following a drone attack carried out by Hezbollah fighters, during a ground operation in southern Lebanon.
The army stated in a statement that the injured soldiers were taken to the hospital to receive treatment, and that their families had been informed of the incident. The statement indicated that the attack occurred yesterday, Monday, in conjunction with the movements of its forces in the region, adding that the perpetrators of the attack were “eliminated,” as it put it.
This announcement comes at a time when the Israeli army acknowledged, in another statement issued today, that four of its soldiers were killed and others were injured in a similar attack carried out by “Hezbollah” in southern Lebanon.
According to preliminary information, the clash broke out after a force from the “Nahal” reconnaissance company spotted armed elements, which led to a direct confrontation that witnessed an intense exchange of fire. The clash resulted in deaths and injuries among the soldiers, before air evacuations of the wounded began, as Israeli forces were targeted by an anti-tank missile during the evacuation.
The Israeli army confirmed its intention to continue its military operations against Hezbollah, in light of the escalation of confrontations on the Lebanese front, and their coincidence with regional tensions related to the ongoing war with Iran.
The southern front has witnessed a massive field escalation since March 2, including Israeli ground incursions and intense air strikes, in exchange for continuous operations carried out by Hezbollah with missiles and drones, targeting advanced vehicles and forces.
Recent developments indicate an increase in the intensity of direct clashes in the border villages, with human casualties recorded among the ranks of the Israeli army, which reflects the complex nature of the confrontation in a geographical environment that gives preference to forces that adopt ambush tactics and unconventional warfare.
