
In a statement issued by its media office, the Lebanese Ministry of Energy and Water announced the fair pricing for private electric generator tariffs for the month of March, which came as follows:
For subscribers who have meters in cities, densely populated areas, or at an altitude of less than 700 metres, the price is 40,580 LBP. Per kilowatt hour:
– Capacity of 5 amps: 385,000 LBP. + Monthly lump sum x 40,580 LBP. For every kilowatt hour.
– 10 amp capacity: 685,000 LBP. + Monthly lump sum x 40,580 LBP. For every kilowatt hour.
As for subscribers who have meters in villages, remote areas, or at an altitude of more than 700 metres, the price is 44,638 LBP. Per kilowatt hour:
– Capacity of 5 amps: 385,000 LBP. (fixed) + monthly lump sum x 44.638 LBP. For every kilowatt hour.
– 10 amp capacity: 685,000 LBP. (fixed) + monthly lump sum x 44.638 LBP. For every kilowatt hour.
In addition, an amount of 300,000 LBP is added. On the fixed part of the meter pricing for every additional 5 amps.
The Ministry explained that this pricing was calculated based on the average price of a can of diesel (20 liters) in the month of March, which amounted to 1,982,753 LBP, after calculating all expenses, interest, and generator costs, in addition to a profit margin for the owners.
The Ministry also stated that it took into account, in coordination with the Lebanese Ministry of Economy and Trade, the cost of distributing the plate from the gas station to the generator, in addition to other basic elements such as the cost of oils, filters, and generator consumption, as well as the average monthly price of the dollar in the parallel market, which amounted to 89,700 LBP.
