Al Hilal moves to Asia... A request to lift Nunez’s suspension

Al Hilal Saudi Club sent an official letter to the Asian Football Confederation, requesting that the suspension imposed on its Uruguayan striker, Darwin Nunez, be canceled so that he can participate in his team’s match against Al Sadd of Qatar in the round of 16 of the AFC Elite Champions League.

“Nunez” is banned from playing because he received a large number of yellow cards, but Al Hilal management based its request on the change that occurred in the round of 16 system, after merging it with the final rounds that will be held in Jeddah next month.

News sources reported that the decision to play West Asian matches in a single-match system instead of home and away increased the impact of the absence of the suspended players, which is the main reason that prompted Al-Hilal to demand the cancellation of the punishment.

Al Hilal is expected to meet Al Sadd on April 13 in Jeddah, and the winner will face the Japanese team Vissel Kobe in the quarter-finals.
