From denunciation to accountability: "Progressive" He hardens his tone

The Progressive Socialist Party called on the Lebanese government to immediately authorize the International Criminal Court to begin investigations and prosecute those responsible for crimes targeting civilians in Lebanon, against the backdrop of the recent military escalation.

In an official statement issued by its Information Commission, the party expressed its strong condemnation of the Israeli targeting that killed journalist Fatima Fattouni and her brother, photographer Mohamed Fattouni from the “Al-Mayadeen” channel, as well as journalist Ali Shuaib from the “Al-Manar” channel, while they were performing their work.

The party also offered its condolences to the Army Commander, General Rudolf Heikal, and the military establishment, for the martyrdom of Corporal Muhammad Mufid al-Tufaili as a result of a raid on the town of Deir al-Zahrani, and strongly condemned the targeting of a point belonging to the Islamic Health Authority at the Kafr Tibnit roundabout, which caused the martyrdom of paramedics Muhammad Hassan Tufaili and Muhammad Nassif Zuhur.

In this regard, the party stressed the importance of the government documenting all Israeli violations, in preparation for submitting them to the International Criminal Court, stressing that targeting media professionals, first responders, and civilians represents a clear violation of international humanitarian law.

These positions come in light of the escalation in the intensity of military operations in southern Lebanon, where recent Israeli raids led to the martyrdom of a number of media professionals, soldiers, and medics, which sparked widespread angry reactions, in addition to calls for international legal action to hold Israel accountable.

These events coincide with increasing demands for action at the international judicial level, with the official emphasis on the importance of documenting all attacks with the aim of prosecuting them before the relevant authorities.
