
The French Ambassador to Lebanon, Hervé Magro, made an inspection visit to Rafic Hariri International Airport – Beirut, where he was briefed on the progress of work and the measures taken in light of the difficult circumstances that Lebanon is going through.
The ambassador was received by: Chairman of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Authority, Captain Muhammad Aziz, Executive Director General of the Airport, Dr. Jalal Haider, Commander of the Airport Security Service, Brigadier General Fadi Al-Kafouri, and member of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Dr. Anjal Awad.
During the meeting, the airport situation and the steps taken to ensure smooth movement were discussed, emphasizing the importance of developing security and safety standards and ensuring operational readiness in all departments.
The important role played by the airport was also discussed, especially in facilitating the arrival of humanitarian aid from European Union countries and other countries to Lebanon, within the framework of international efforts to support stability and respond to urgent needs.
After the meeting, the French ambassador toured the departure and arrival sections, and was briefed on the inspection methods and organizational procedures, and praised “the efforts of the workers and their keenness to ensure the smooth progress of work in this vital facility.”
Beirut Airport is the only air gateway to Lebanon, and represents a vital artery for the movement of passengers, goods and humanitarian aid, especially in light of the current security and economic challenges.
This visit comes within the framework of European countries’ interest in the logistical and security situation in Lebanon, in light of the escalation of field and humanitarian pressures that the country is witnessing, which increases the importance of maintaining the stability of this vital facility and ensuring its continued efficient operation.
France maintains an active diplomatic and humanitarian presence in Lebanon, by supporting official institutions and humanitarian initiatives, especially in vital sectors such as air transport and infrastructure.
