Following the attack that targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut, the official spokesman for the Israeli army, “Avichai Adraee,” stated through his account on the “X” platform that the army began “in the meantime to launch raids on Hezbollah’s infrastructure in the southern suburbs.”
Adraei also issued what he called an “urgent warning” to the residents of a number of areas of the suburb, specifically mentioning: Haret Hreik, Al-Ghobeiry, Al-Laylaki, Al-Hadath, Burj Al-Barajneh, Tahouitet Al-Ghadir, and Al-Shiyah, demanding their immediate evacuation.
He stressed that the army “continues to operate and attack Hezbollah’s military infrastructure in various parts of the suburb with increasing force,” and added that the army “does not intend to harm the residents,” and that this warning comes “out of concern for their safety.”
This announcement comes in the wake of a noticeable air escalation in the Lebanese capital, which was embodied in an air strike and an intense flight of warplanes at low altitude, which brought Beirut back into the targeting circle after a period of cautious anticipation, in light of the continuation of military operations in the south.
The southern suburb has witnessed an intermittent escalation since the beginning of the confrontations, accompanied by advance warnings issued by the Israeli army through its media outlets, calling on residents to evacuate certain areas before carrying out attacks. These warnings are considered part of a growing escalation trend between the southern front and Beirut, amid fears of an increase in the intensity of targeting in crowded residential neighborhoods.
