The wealthy Egyptian businessman, Mohamed Mansour, owner of San Diego FC, praised the Egyptian star, Mohamed Salah, stressing that he is a “valuable addition” to any team, in the midst of growing expectations about the player’s future after he announced his departure from Liverpool.
While attending the “Business of Football” summit in Atlanta, Mansour stated that Salah is “one of the greatest players at the moment,” expressing his pride in being Egyptian. He added: “Any team that can acquire him will undoubtedly be a valuable asset for him.”
Despite his praise of Salah, Mansour refrained from revealing whether his club was seriously seeking to sign him, stressing that contracting decisions were left to the club’s management and the coach. He said: “I leave the decision to the responsible people… If you say no, then this player does not suit us.”
Mansour’s statements come at a time when speculation is mounting about Salah’s future, especially after a difficult season he spent with Liverpool that witnessed a decline in his level and him scoring only 5 goals, with suggestions that his next destination may be the Saudi League or the American League, similar to former stars such as Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann, and Heung-Min Son.
It is noteworthy that the San Diego club is considered one of the most promising teams in the American League “MLS”, after it was founded by Mansour in cooperation with the Native American Sycuan tribe. In its first season, it achieved a record number of points for new clubs, and is currently relying on young players from the international “Right to Dream” academies that Mansour runs in Egypt, Ghana and Denmark.
Mansour stressed that the club’s playing style focuses on teamwork, vitality, and fighting spirit, noting that “football is a team sport, not just one player.”
