The Minister of Social Affairs, Haneen Al-Sayed, confirmed that the Ministry pays great attention to the displaced people who found themselves in the streets, and extends a direct invitation to them to go to the available shelter centers. “There is a place for everyone and transportation is secure,” she stressed.
The Minister indicated that efforts to respond to the crisis are continuing non-stop around the clock, 24 days after the escalation began. She also drew attention to the fact that the opening of shelter centers was done quickly and in an organized manner from the first day of the crisis, and that the number of these centers has reached 645 centers today.
She also stressed that the opening of shelter centers is based on actual needs and not arbitrarily, stressing that all official shelter centers in Lebanon are completely subject to the authority of the state only, and are managed by the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministry of Education in cooperation with the relevant partners, and are not subject to the control of any party or any other entity.
Regarding the health aspect, Al-Sayed explained that the Ministry of Health has activated the emergency plan and is covering the costs of hospitalization of the displaced. It revealed that more than 1,100,000 boxes of medicine intended for treating chronic diseases were distributed to 192 primary health care centres.
