Pep Guardiola, the coach of Manchester City, confirmed that he feels very tired despite winning the English League Cup, stressing that the competition in the Premier League is still difficult and has not been decided yet.
Guardiola’s statements came after his team’s victory over Arsenal with two clean goals in the final match, which he described as a difficult test against a competitor who, from his point of view, was performing at a high level.
The City coach explained that his team had gone through a volatile period recently, citing the draws with Nottingham Forest and West Ham, in addition to the loss to Real Madrid, but he stressed that the players, whether veterans or new ones, once again demonstrated their ability to provide strong performances on important occasions.
He pointed out that his team would not have achieved victory without reaching a very high level, explaining that the defensive performance was decisive, while the second half, as he described it, was so amazing that he could not believe what he saw.
Guardiola believes that this title is of special importance, not only because it is added to the club’s records, but also because it was achieved at the expense of a strong team like Arsenal, considering that winning titles remains a difficult task regardless of the size of the tournament.
Regarding the English Premier League race, the Spanish coach was realistic, as he said that he hoped the difference would be different, but he acknowledged that the reins were still in Arsenal’s hands, adding that he needed a lot of rest because he felt tired, before he returned to dealing with the next stage carefully.
This victory gives Manchester City its ninth League Cup title, and its first in the tournament since 2021, while the team continues to chase Arsenal at the top of the league.
