Kuwaiti airlines return to operate their flights to Egypt

The tense events taking place in the region forced Kuwaiti airlines to take exceptional and temporary measures to ensure the continuation of their flights to Egypt, the favorite destination of many Kuwaitis. This measure comes after the closure of Kuwaiti airspace, which necessitated the search for alternative and quick solutions to maintain the movement of passengers between the two countries.

In this context, Kuwait Airways announced the resumption of its regular flights to and from Cairo, starting March 26, 2026, through King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, at a rate of four flights per week. This step falls within an alternative plan of action that relies on gathering travelers at specific points inside Kuwait, then transporting them by land to the specified airport to complete the flight to Cairo.

Likewise, Jazeera Airways has expanded its operations by operating flights to Egypt via Qaisumah Airport in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. These flights include Cairo and other Egyptian cities, with plans to gradually increase capacity in the near future.

The company also announced the operation of flights from Sohag via the same airport as of the end of March, becoming the sixth destination within its network in Egypt.

This temporary mechanism relies on transporting passengers by land from Kuwait to Dammam or Qaisumah airports, before resuming the flight by air, which is an emergency model imposed by current geopolitical developments.

Experts in the aviation sector believe that these arrangements reflect the ability of companies to adapt to exceptional situations, especially since the travel line between Kuwait and Egypt still maintains its importance due to the large demand related to family and economic reasons. (Al Ain)
