Destruction and casualties in Nabatieh: An Israeli raid targets the nuns’ neighbourhood

Israeli violence in Lebanese territory is increasing significantly, as successive raids are launched on several southern regions, resulting in casualties, including deaths and injuries, and increasing concern about the possibility of expanding the scope of clashes.

In this regard, the Health Emergency Operations Center of the Ministry of Public Health stated in a statement that the Israeli raid on the nuns’ neighborhood in Nabatieh led, according to preliminary estimates, to the death of five citizens and the injury of five others.

The statement explained that search and rescue operations are continuing at the site of the attack, due to the presence of missing people under the rubble, while ambulance and civil defense teams are working to remove the debris and treat the injured.

This attack comes in the context of a broad military escalation taking place in the Lebanese arena since Hezbollah announced its entry into the battle and launched the “Devouring Storm” operation, as Israel and the party exchanged a series of military attacks across the border during the past few hours.

Today, southern Lebanon witnessed a series of Israeli raids targeting several towns and regions, including Al-Kharayib and Zawtar Al-Sharqiya, in addition to raids on the southern suburbs of Beirut, specifically the Al-Jamous area.

The Ministry of Health also announced earlier that two paramedics were martyred and five others were injured as a result of direct targeting in the town of Al-Sawana, which indicates the expansion of the scope of the attacks to include different areas in the south.

On the other hand, Hezbollah announced that it had carried out a series of military operations targeting Israeli army sites and gatherings along the border, including the Al-Sadah site opposite the town of Maroun al-Ras, in addition to gatherings of Israeli soldiers in Khiam and Kafr Kila.

Field reports also stated that Israeli shells fell inside the headquarters of the Nepalese battalion of UNIFIL forces in the town of Mays al-Jabal, raising warnings about the danger of targeting the positions of international forces operating in the south.

This escalation comes at a time when the situation on the Lebanese front is witnessing unprecedented tension since the beginning of the current confrontation, with the continuation of air strikes and Israeli artillery shelling, in exchange for missile operations carried out by “Hezbollah” towards Israeli military sites in the north.

In light of this tense field situation, fears are increasing about the expansion of the scope of the military conflict, especially with the continuation of mutual attacks and civilian casualties in various Lebanese regions.
