Middle East Airlines – Lebanese Airlines “MEA” announced changes to its flight schedule for the period from 13 to 17 March 2026, due to the continued closure of some countries in the region of their airspace as a result of the current security and military situations.

The company issued a statement in Beirut in which it explained that these changes are necessary for operational reasons and to ensure the security of flights and passengers. The changes included canceling some flights to regional destinations, operating alternative flights, and changing the dates of other flights during the aforementioned period.

The company confirmed that it will allow passengers whose flights were canceled the ability to rebook for free on alternative flights that were added to the revised schedule.

The company also announced the addition of additional flights to some destinations to facilitate travel and transportation of passengers affected by the recent changes.

Regarding flights to Cairo, the company stated that one of the return flights was canceled and replaced by another flight on the same day to transport passengers whose reservations were affected due to operational changes.

MEA confirmed in its statement that a number of flights to European and international destinations will remain on their usual schedules, while the amendments mainly affected flights to some regional destinations.

In a related context, the company announced an amendment to its policy regarding no-shows, after discovering that some passengers and travel agents had reserved seats on more than one flight at the same time, and then not traveled without canceling the reservation in advance.

She explained that these practices block seats from other passengers and cause confusion in seat management, which prompted the company to impose fees for no-shows, which are:

300 US dollars for economy class
500 USD for business class

The company also reserves the right to cancel the entire travel card in the event of failure to attend the flight.

The company indicated that it adopts a flexible ticket policy that allows for free rebooking once within a week from the date of the trip, in addition to refunding the value of unused tickets without fines.

These amendments come in light of the increasing military tensions in the region, which directly affect civil air traffic, as many countries were forced to close their airspace or restrict air traffic due to security risks.

This affected airlines operating in the Middle East, which were forced to modify their flight schedules, cancel some of them, or change their routes to ensure the safety of flights.

Middle East Airlines confirmed that the situation is still changing, and additional adjustments to the flight schedule may occur in the coming period, and called on travelers to follow the latest updates via the call center or the company’s website.
