In the Disaster Management Room: Salam reviews the latest displacement statistics and developments

This morning, Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam held the regular ministerial meeting in the government palace, with the aim of following up on the latest political developments as well as the plan drawn up to respond to displacement and relief needs.

After the meeting ended, President Salam and the accompanying ministers headed to the Disaster Management Unit’s operations room in the Grand Serail, where they listened to a detailed briefing by the unit’s team on the latest numbers and developments.

This meeting comes in the context of the ongoing military escalation witnessed in the Lebanese scene over the past few days, with the expansion of the scope of Israeli air strikes that targeted multiple areas in the south and the Bekaa, in addition to recording targets on the outskirts of the capital, Beirut.

This escalation resulted in a large wave of displacement from the affected border villages and towns, as large numbers of families moved to safer areas, especially in Beirut, Mount Lebanon, and some interior regions, which prompted the government to increase its meetings to follow up on the urgent response plan.

In this context, the official authorities are working in cooperation with municipalities and humanitarian organizations to provide temporary residence centers and provide the necessary assistance to the displaced, in addition to monitoring the health and service conditions in the areas hosting the displaced, in light of the increasing pressures imposed by recent field developments.
