A recent report issued by CNN revealed that about 44% of children in the United States do not get enough sleep that is recommended for their age. This significantly affects the quality of parents’ sleep and their daily lives.

Children’s sleep quality

The study showed that children who do not get enough sleep face difficulties in concentrating and a decrease in the level of activity during the day. On the other hand, parents suffer from sleep disturbances and high levels of stress.

According to the National Sleep Foundation, children’s lack of sleep negatively affects parents’ sleep. About 80% of parents confirmed that their sleep is directly affected when their children do not sleep well, which increases psychological stress and affects the daily performance of the entire family.

Experts advise that good sleep during the first years of life is a vital foundation for children’s physical and mental development. They call on families to adhere to a regular sleep schedule, and to provide a calm and comfortable environment before bed, by turning off electronic devices and reducing noise, with the aim of promoting relaxation and ensuring that all family members get adequate rest.

The report confirms that following these recommendations can significantly improve the quality of children’s sleep and reduce the stress experienced by parents, leading to improved mental and physical “health” for the entire family.
