Hezbollah congratulated the election of Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei to become the third Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stressing its commitment to the “province approach” and continuing to support Iran in the face of current difficulties.
In a statement, Hezbollah expressed its congratulations to the leadership and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the occasion of the selection of Mr. Mojtaba Khamenei as the leader of the Islamic Revolution, succeeding his father, Ali Khamenei, who was killed in an Israeli raid.
The statement explained that the selection of the new leader came after a long period of leadership by the previous leader, which was stated to have contributed to consolidating the principle of independence and strengthening Iran’s position in the face of external pressures.
Hezbollah also praised the role of the Leadership Council of Experts in Iran, considering that the selection of the new guide was done quickly despite the conditions the country is going through, especially in light of the ongoing military conflict with the United States and Israel.
The party believes that the election of Mojtaba Khamenei represents a message to Iran’s opponents that the country is capable of continuing despite the difficulties, stressing that the path of the Islamic Revolution continues.
The statement added that Hezbollah renews its commitment to what it called the “state line,” wishing success to the new leader in leading the Islamic Republic in the next stage.
This position comes after the Iranian Leadership Council of Experts announced the selection of Mojtaba Khamenei as the new Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, succeeding his father, Ali Khamenei.
This development coincides with the escalation of the military conflict in the region between Iran on one side and the United States and Israel on the other, amid an exchange of strikes and missile attacks on more than one front in the Middle East.
