The Israeli Army Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, announced that Hezbollah is “an extremist arm of Iran,” and stressed that the organization “is paying and will continue to pay a heavy price” in light of the escalation of confrontations in the region.
Zamir made these statements during an assessment of the situation he conducted today, Sunday, at the headquarters of the Home Front Command, in the presence of the Home Front Commander, Major General Shai Clapper, the Air Defense System Commander, Brigadier General K., in addition to a number of other military leaders.
Zamir stated that the Israeli army carried out an operation during the night targeting leaders of the Iranian “Quds Force” inside Lebanese territory, specifically in Beirut. He added, “I tell you clearly that there is no safe place for the Iranian axis of evil anywhere in the Middle East, neither in Beirut nor anywhere else.”
The Chief of Staff also indicated that Israel was also subjected to intense fire towards towns located in the north of the country, confirming that an incident had occurred during the night, resulting in deaths and injuries.
He continued, saying: “From here I would like to send my condolences to the families of the dead and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.”
Zamir stressed that Hezbollah, which he described as “an extremist arm of the Iranian octopus,” would bear heavy consequences as a result of this confrontation.
He explained that Israel has been living in a continuous state of emergency for about two years, and stressed that at this particular stage the country needs “patience and perseverance.”
He said: “This conflict will take a long time, and you must be prepared for that, and no matter how long it takes, it will take.”
He continued his speech, saying: “The party that will win is the party that shows determination and perseverance. We know our internal front well, and it has a great ability to withstand. I am confident in the ability of the internal front to support us in maintaining our achievements.”
Zamir also addressed civilians in Israel, noting that they are frequently forced to resort to shelters and fortified rooms due to rocket firing. He stressed that the army is constantly reviewing the instructions directed to the home front according to developments in the situation, and called on residents to adhere to security instructions.
He pointed out that all military forces are participating in the combat effort, including the Air Force, armored forces, infantry, and combat engineering deployed on the border lines as well as inside Lebanese territory.
Zamir concluded his statements by saying: “This is the war of our generation. It is a decisive and fateful war, and it will determine our future and our security here for many years to come.”
