Walid Jumblatt, former head of the Progressive Socialist Party, received a phone call from Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, during which the latest developments were discussed in light of the accelerating events at the Lebanese and regional levels.

During the call, Jumblatt and Al-Sharaa stressed the necessity of cooperation and interaction between the Lebanese and Syrian governments to confront the threats facing the region, especially with the escalation and successive security developments.

This contact between “Jumblatt” and “Al-Sharaa” comes within the framework of a series of ongoing political contacts between Beirut and Damascus to follow up on security developments in the region, especially on the Lebanese-Syrian border.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam received a phone call from the Syrian President, where they discussed the current situation in Lebanon and developments related to the common border in light of the military escalation in the region.

Al-Sharaa explained during the call that strengthening the Syrian military presence on the border with Lebanon aims to control the border and maintain Syrian internal security, noting that these measures fall within similar measures taken by Damascus on its border with Iraq.

During these talks, the two parties also stressed the importance of continuing coordination and consultation between Lebanon and Syria to keep pace with current developments in the region.
