The Israeli army issued a statement stating that it had targeted a Hezbollah leader, accusing him of responsibility for directing the party’s shooting operations in the southern Lebanon region.
The Israeli army stated that the targeted commander, “Zaid Ali Jumaa,” was supervising the artillery network in southern Lebanon, and was responsible for launching large numbers of rockets, mortar shells, and drones from inside Lebanese territory towards Israel.
The army also accused “Jomaa” of involvement in the missile attack that killed two Israeli officers in 2015, “Major Yohai (Juha) Klingel” and “Sergeant Dor Haim Nini.”
The statement added that “Jomaa” had previously held multiple leadership positions within Hezbollah, and also participated in fighting alongside the Syrian regime forces led by “Bashar al-Assad” during the Syrian war.
