The Minister of Economy and Trade, Amer Al-Bassat, called an emergency meeting of the National Council for Price Policy. The meeting will be held at the Ministry’s headquarters at ten in the morning on Friday, March 6, 2026. The aim of this meeting is to discuss urgent developments in the price movement within the Lebanese markets, in light of the current conditions.

This call came in response to field information indicating that there were unreasonable increases in the prices of some food and consumer items, which places additional burdens on citizens. This measure comes within the framework of the powers granted to the Minister of Economy and Trade, in his capacity as Chairman of the Council.

The meeting will be devoted to reviewing field data related to price developments in recent weeks, and identifying the sectors and commodities most affected. In addition, factors affecting price increases will be analysed, including the conditions of “supply chains” at various stages of distribution.

During the meeting, the Council will work to develop practical and implementable proposals, in order to protect “citizens’ purchasing power,” especially in these difficult circumstances.
