The Special Coordinator of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, commented on the Israeli threat to evacuate the southern suburbs of Beirut, writing on the “X” platform: “He ordered the evacuation of large areas of the southern suburbs of Beirut while people are still fleeing from southern Lebanon in large numbers.”

She added, “The country is experiencing a new nightmare, but no party can impose a permanent solution by force.”

Plasschaert’s comment comes amid the escalation of military operations in Lebanon, where the Israeli army escalated its air raids on various areas in the south and the Bekaa during the last hours, in parallel with the issuance of warnings to residents of several neighborhoods in the southern suburbs of Beirut asking them to evacuate.

These warnings caused a state of panic among the population, leading to a large wave of displacement and severe traffic congestion on the roads, while Israeli warplanes and reconnaissance aircraft continue their air sorties in the skies of Lebanon, which doubles fears of an expansion of the scope of the confrontation and an increase in the intensity of escalation in the near future.
