The Ministry of Energy and Water issued a statement from its media office, in which it announced that the fair price for private electric generator tariffs for the month of February is the following: 30,244 LBP. For every kilowatt hour.

For metered subscribers in cities, densely populated areas, or at an altitude of less than 700 metres:

* Capacity of 5 amps: 385,000 LBP. + Monthly lump sum x 30.244 LBP. For every kilowatt hour.
* 10 amp capacity: 685,000 LBP. + Monthly lump sum x 30.244 LBP. For every kilowatt hour.

33.268 LBP For every kilowatt hour.

For metered subscribers in villages, remote areas, or at an altitude of more than 700 metres:

* Capacity of 5 amps: 385,000 LBP. (fixed) + monthly lump sum x 33.268 LBP. For every kilowatt-hour.
* Capacity of 10 amps: 685,000 LBP. (fixed) + monthly lump sum x 33.268 LBP. For every kilowatt-hour.

Add 300,000 LBP. On the fixed part of the meter pricing for every additional 5 amps.

The Ministry explained that this tariff is based on the average price of a can of diesel fuel (20 liters) in the month of February, amounting to 1,398,957. L.L. This is after calculating all the expenses, interest and costs of the generators, in addition to a good profit margin for their owners. She indicated that she took into consideration, in coordination with the Ministry of Economy and Trade, the cost of distributing the fuel tanker from the gas station to the generator. It also takes into account basic components such as the cost of oils and filters and generator wear and tear, and the average monthly price of the dollar in the parallel market reached 89,700 LBP.

The Ministry confirmed that this pricing was issued based on the calculation table approved by the Ministry of Energy since October 14, 2010. In implementation of Cabinet Resolution No. 2 issued on 12/14/2011 regarding taking the necessary measures to control the pricing of private generators, and based on the joint implementation mechanism between the ministries (internal energy and economy) announced on 12/20/2011, which specified the responsibility of the Ministry of Energy and Water in circulating the pricing of private generators based on diesel prices at the end of each month.”

The Ministry of Energy and Water calls on the owners of generators to adhere to the decision of the Ministry of Economy and Trade requiring the installation of meters, and confirmed that it will conduct a documented study in this regard in the coming period in order to update the approved equation in order to more and more suit the fluctuations in exchange rates and the economic and social situation of citizens, taking into account the requirements of the owners of private generators.

The Ministry of Energy and Water also announced that it had sent letters to the Ministries of Interior and Economy regarding the pricing for the month of February 2026 to do what is required according to the joint control mechanism.

With regard to elevators and common sections that share three-phase capabilities, the generator owner must calculate the fixed part of the pricing based on the monophase capacity. For example, if the elevator and the common sections are connected to a three-phase breaker of 3 x 15 amps, the fixed section is calculated based on the capacity of 15 amps, not 45 amps, meaning 985,000 liras, not 2,785,000 liras.

The Ministry of Energy and Water draws the attention of owners of private generators and honorable citizens to the impermissibility of introducing the following additions to the guiding pricing issued by the Ministry: A value-added tax that is not legally justified according to an official registration in the TVA Directorate in the Ministry of Finance. Additional fees or amounts under any pretext, such as the cost of maintaining a generator, networks, or anything else. Additional fees for citizens who use solar energy devices in addition to private generators. Here, the Ministry of Energy and Water calls on those concerned with consumer protection, especially the Ministry of Economy and Trade, to tighten control over the proper application of the above guideline pricing and to take the maximum measures against violators, with the support of the Ministry of Interior, Municipalities and the competent judiciary.

The Ministry indicated that it will attach a detailed guide pricing installation schedule, and will also publish this schedule on the official website: www.energyandwater.gov.lb
