The US Embassy in Israel announced, through its official account on the “X” platform, a decision taken by the US State Department on February 27, 2026. The decision stipulates that non-essential employees of the US government and the families of employees working in the US mission in Israel are allowed to leave the country, due to “security risks.”
The embassy stressed that this measure is an additional precaution due to “escalating regional tensions.” She added, “In response to security incidents and without prior notice, the embassy may impose additional restrictions or ban American government employees and their family members from traveling to certain areas within Israel, the Old City of Jerusalem, and the West Bank.”
The embassy urged citizens to follow the latest developments and adjust their travel plans based on this information, noting that “people can consider leaving Israel as long as commercial flights are available.”
