Captain Mohamed Aziz, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of Civil Aviation at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut, confirmed that the news that spread on some websites about the activation of an emergency plan at the airport is incorrect. He stressed that air traffic is proceeding normally, and that there are no special measures taken.
In a related context, the National News Agency contacted Captain Aziz, who categorically denied everything that was being circulated, stressing that “things are normal at the airport, and no emergency plan has been activated.”
He added that he spoke with Brigadier General Fadi Al-Kafouri, Commander of the Airport Security Service, who in turn confirmed that “there is no alert or emergency action,” denying the validity of the circulating rumors.
Aziz appealed to the media to be accurate and responsible when reporting news related to the airport, and called on them to contact the General Authority of Civil Aviation to ensure the accuracy of the information before publishing it.
This clarification comes in order to ensure transparency and reassure the public, and to confirm that work at Rafic Hariri International Airport is proceeding as usual, without any unusual developments.
These clarifications come as a result of the circulation of inaccurate information across electronic platforms and social media, which necessitated the issuance of this official clarification to avoid any confusion, especially with regard to air traffic and passenger safety, which are subject to specific and well-known operational and security procedures.
