Official figures issued on Wednesday by Statistics Sweden revealed a continued decline in producer prices in Sweden for the month of January, recording their decline for the third month in a row.
According to the data, the “Producer Price Index” decreased by 2% compared to last year, after a larger decline last December of 2.7%, which represented the largest decline the country had witnessed in six months.
According to what was reported by the German news agency “DPA”, “prices of consumer goods” witnessed a decline of 4.5% compared to the previous year, while “prices of capital goods” declined by 3.5%.
On the other hand, “prices of energy-related products” recorded a significant increase of 5.8%. Excluding energy, the Producer Price Index fell by 3.6% compared to the previous year.
In terms of monthly comparison, “producer prices” rebounded in January, registering an increase of 2.4%, after declining by 1.1% in December.
Import and export prices also witnessed significant annual declines, falling by 7.4% and 7.7%, respectively, in January.
