Today, YouTube made adjustments to the “Premium Lite” package for subscriptions, adding new features to it, such as the ability to play videos in the background and download them. Now, subscribers to this package will be able to enjoy watching most videos without ads, whether they download them to watch later offline or choose to play them in the background.

Previously, video downloading and background playback features were only limited to the more expensive “Premium” plan. The price of a YouTube Premium Lite subscription in the US is $7.99 per month, while a YouTube Premium subscription costs $13.99 per month.

The “Premium Lite” package provides the feature of blocking ads for most videos, but it does not include all of them. It also does not allow listening to music in the YouTube Music application without ads. The majority of non-music content is ad-free when you subscribe to “Premium Lite,” while ads remain in “Shorts” videos.

On the other hand, the “YouTube Premium” package removes ads from all videos, including musical content, in addition to providing additional benefits such as quick navigation, creating a video queue, and resuming watching from the point at which you left off.
