Where are we headed? – Between the rise in fuel prices and the value-added tax… who bears the burden?

In a special episode of the “Where Are We Going” program, we analyzed the recent economic decisions taken by the government, starting with raising gasoline prices and increasing the value-added tax, all the way to the direct impact of these decisions on citizens and workers in the public sector.

In a frank and direct discussion with former Labor Minister Charbel Nahhas, we asked a set of fundamental questions:

“Do these measures actually fund salaries or increase pressure on people?”

“Are there fair alternatives to consumer taxes?”

“Are we facing temporary solutions or a sustainable financial policy?”

We also reviewed people’s reactions and opinions about the recent increase of 300,000 Lebanese pounds in the price of a can of gasoline, between supporters and opponents.

What is the fate of Lebanon in light of these financial decisions, the issue of tax justice, and the reality of the public sector? Where is this situation taking us?
