The UAE Cyber Security Council issued a statement on Saturday, announcing the success of the national cyber defenses in countering organized cyber attacks with terrorist motives. These attacks targeted the country’s digital infrastructure and vital sectors, with the aim of causing chaos and disrupting basic services.
In its statement, the Council stressed that the security of citizens, the protection of their private information, and the continuity of necessary services are the top priorities. He stressed that the national system for cybersecurity and defense works non-stop with high efficiency, in close cooperation with service providers, national and international bodies, and specialized organizations.
The Council also drew attention to benefiting from advanced global technical alliances and expertise to enhance protection capabilities, accelerate systems recovery, and raise the level of digital resilience in the country, to ensure that the digital infrastructure is prepared to face various risks.
The Council explained that the attacks included attempts to break into networks, spread ransomware, in addition to organized “electronic phishing” operations that targeted national platforms. Artificial Intelligence techniques have also been exploited to develop advanced attack tools, which indicates a noticeable progress in the methods of terrorist groups and their ability to use modern technologies to carry out their digital attacks.
The Cyber Security Council affirmed its full commitment to protecting the digital space and maintaining stability, and rejected targeting vital infrastructure and civil services. He called on everyone to report any cyber threats or suspicious attempts through the approved official channels, to ensure the integrity of the state’s digital security and the continued work of its institutions in all circumstances and times.
