Search and rescue efforts continue intensively in the villages of the Bekaa, especially around the areas of Rayak, Bdnayel, Tamnin and Mafra al-Mundhir, following the Israeli raids that targeted populated areas last night, which caused massive destruction, loss of life, and severe damage to property.
On the ground, rescue teams continue their diligent work to remove the rubble, while the municipalities, in coordination with the competent authorities, are removing the rubble and opening roads in Bednayel, Tamnin and Rayak.
Information reported that “more than 50 residential apartments in Rayak alone have become uninhabitable as a result of the damage they sustained.” The data also showed that “dozens of wounded are still receiving treatment in area hospitals.”
In this context, a resident of the Rayak area told us that the scene “was horrific,” pointing out that “the raids occurred shortly after breakfast, while the families were gathering in their homes.”
He explained that local residents took the initiative to transport the wounded to the nearest hospitals, calling on the President of the Republic, the Supreme Relief Committee, the Prime Minister, and the Mayor to stand by those affected and assess the extent of the damage caused to them and their families, especially in light of the holy month of Ramadan and the stifling economic crisis. “The situation has become hopeless,” he added.
In another testimony, one of Rayak’s sons confirmed to us that “last night was “difficult and painful,” likening what happened to the escalation that the southern regions are experiencing. He added that the residents feel abandoned in the absence of any economic support or real support,” expressing “the extent of sadness and anger that hangs over the region.”
He pointed out that the people are living in a state of deep frustration, saying: “We are tired of the government,” an expression that reflects the widespread state of despair among the affected families.
