The Minister of Public Health, Rakan Nasser Al-Din, wrote a tweet on his account on the “X” platform in which he said: “As if it were your destiny, O dear Baqa’i, to bring fatigue with blood, to combine breakfast with the call to martyrdom, and to The month begins with Laylat al-Qadr.”

He added at the end of his tweet: “Tell them, O my vast plain, that you have won and you will win, by the Lord of the Kaaba…”

These positions issued by the Minister of Health come against the backdrop of a dangerous and unprecedented Israeli escalation that affected vast areas in the Bekaa during the past few hours, specifically the areas of Baalbek, Tamnin and Bednayel, where violent raids were launched that led to the death and injury of a number of people, and caused massive destruction to homes and civilian buildings. The Ministry of Health announced large numbers of casualties in an initial toll, while drones continued to fly over the region, amid painful scenes that coincided with iftar time on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.

Under these circumstances, political and humanitarian voices have increased in condemnation of these raids, and consider what is happening to be a blatant attack on civilians and a flagrant violation of all international laws. In this context, the words of the Minister of Health reflected the extent of the pain felt by the residents of the Bekaa, who once again found themselves combining the rituals of the holy month of Ramadan with the suffering of martyrdom, in an image that embodies the scale of the humanitarian disaster that the region is experiencing.
