“Samsung” officially announced its entry into the field of connected smart glasses by unveiling “Samsung Smart galaxy Glasses,” expected to be launched in 2026, in a move aimed at consolidating its position in the wearable devices market, and competing with products such as the famous “Ray-Ban Meta.”
The Korean electronics company described the new glasses as more than just a technical accessory, but rather an effort to make everyday technology smarter and more integrated into users’ lives, with a plan to launch a fully advanced version in 2027 that includes augmented reality capabilities.
Intelligent basic functions:
Samsung intends to launch two versions of smart glasses in 2026, bearing the codes SMO2000P and SMO200J. They share most of the main features, with some slight differences in details to meet the needs of different sectors of users.
According to the leaks, the first generation will not include an augmented reality display inside the lens, but rather will focus on a set of practical smart functions, including a 12-megapixel camera for taking photos and videos, built-in microphones and speakers for making calls and voice commands, and a 155 mAh battery to provide acceptable usage life without adding additional weight.
In addition, the smart glasses will be equipped with the “Qualcomm AR1” chip specialized in wearable devices.
These glasses will support the Android XR system, which ensures broad compatibility with various applications, and the device will work seamlessly with Samsung smartphones and watches, enhancing the user experience within the Galaxy ecosystem.
The new glasses leverage the Gemini AI platform to enable intelligent features, including voice recognition for hands-free command control, real-time translation during navigation or conversations, and contextual assistants such as voice reminders during meetings or suggesting useful information while travelling.
The glasses will also be able to display notifications, control music, and access navigation apps directly by connecting to a Galaxy phone or other connected devices.
Realizing the importance of combining technology and elegance, “Samsung” has established partnerships with two international brands in the field of eyewear, “Gentle Monster” and “Warby Parker,” with the aim of providing designs that combine comfort and daily elegance for users, whether at work or social life.
These partnerships aim to offer glasses that look like a stylish everyday accessory rather than just a purely technological device, a trend that is in line with the preferences of users who want a smart device with a simple appearance.
Samsung plans to launch the second generation of smart glasses in 2027, which is expected to support in-lens display technologies, opening the door to more interactive and merging experiences between the real and digital worlds.
Through this phased approach, the company hopes to build a strong foundation in 2026 before moving on to more advanced capabilities the following year, in a bid to be among the leaders in the future smart glasses market.
