A recent opinion poll revealed that more than half of Americans believe that President Donald Trump is seeking to cover up the crimes of the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, who was convicted in cases related to sexual assault.

According to a poll conducted by The Economist, 53% of respondents said they believe Trump is “trying to cover up Epstein’s crimes,” while 29% disagreed.

In a related context, half of the participants believed that Trump was involved in Epstein’s illegal activities, while 30% believed that he had no connection to them.

The poll results showed a clear division based on party affiliation, with 91% of Democrats saying that Trump was trying to cover up crimes, compared to only 13% of Republicans. 86% of Democrats also indicated his involvement in illegal activities, while 67% of Republicans denied this.

It is noteworthy that “Trump” has not faced any official and credible accusation of committing criminal activity related to “Epstein,” and he has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, stressing that he severed his relationship with the late financier years ago.

In the same context, the Trump administration faced widespread criticism over its handling of the Epstein investigations. Last year, the US Congress unanimously passed a law requiring the US Department of Justice to publish all files related to Epstein, while allowing information to be deleted to protect the identity of the victims. Trump signed the law under intense pressure.

But the Justice Department later came under fire for publishing the files with widespread deletion of information, while leaving some details revealing the identity of the victims exposed.

The poll showed that only 24% of participants approved of Trump’s handling of the investigation, while 57% expressed their disagreement.
