The Syrian Ministry of Interior reported that the Internal Security Directorate in the Al-Mayadeen area, located in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, carried out a joint security operation with the General Intelligence Service. As a result of this operation, a person wanted by the authorities was arrested, in addition to confiscating a quantity of missiles and various weapons that were equipped with the aim of smuggling them outside the Syrian border.

A statement issued by the Ministry explained that the operation resulted in the arrest of the so-called “J.S.”, and the confiscation of an arsenal of missiles and various weapons that were in readiness for smuggling, following a security tracking operation that relied on reliable intelligence information.

The statement continued by explaining that the security forces carried out a raid on the place where the wanted man was hiding, and during the operation they succeeded in thwarting a plan to smuggle anti-tank missiles and advanced anti-aircraft machine guns.

The statement also pointed out that all seized items were seized, and the person who was arrested was transferred to the Counter-Terrorism Department to complete investigation procedures and take the necessary legal measures against him.
