Gianni Infantino, President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), has officially become a Lebanese citizen, after today completing the procedures for obtaining a fingerprint for himself and his family at the headquarters of the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities. This took place in the presence of the Minister of Interior, Ahmed Al-Hajjar, the President of the Lebanese Football Association, Hashem Haidar, and the Secretary-General of the Federation, Jihad Al-Shahf. Infantino is scheduled to receive his Lebanese identity later today.

Infantino also visited the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Noura Bayrakdarian, accompanied by his wife, the President of the Lebanese Federation, Hashem Haidar, and the Secretary-General, Jihad Al-Shahf.

Bayrakdarian welcomed the guest and congratulated him on obtaining Lebanese citizenship, considering his visit to the Ministry’s headquarters, which is the first of its kind, as “an unprecedented event, representing exceptional support for Lebanon’s youth and athletes, and it is an appreciated initiative.”

She also expressed her thanks to him for “the efforts he is making to support Lebanon, especially in terms of building a modern facility.” During the meeting, this issue was discussed with the accompanying delegation, in addition to the ideas and projects that the Ministry is working on with the aim of shaping a better future for Lebanese sports and achieving a qualitative leap and leading it to the highest regional and international forums.
