During the activities of the Second Conference of Transport and Communications Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, held in Istanbul, the Syrian Minister of Transport, Yarab Badr, discussed with the Minister of State and Russian Deputy Minister of Transport for International Cooperation, Dmitry Zverev, mechanisms for developing joint cooperation in the transport and logistics sectors.

During the meeting, studies on the requirements of the Syrian Railways General Corporation were reviewed, especially with regard to the provision of mobile and fixed equipment, as well as the maintenance and modernization mechanisms necessary to develop the infrastructure of the railway network.

The two parties also discussed a draft memorandum of understanding between the ministries of transport in the two countries, and the Russian side proposed examining the possibility of signing it during the upcoming conference in Russia, with the aim of enhancing opportunities for technical and investment cooperation in the transport sector, according to what was reported by the Syrian news agency “SANA”.
