The Meteorological Department’s Estimates Department reported that warm air masses dominate Lebanon and the eastern Mediterranean basin, leading to a noticeable rise in temperatures to exceed their seasonal rates, with a decrease in humidity. Their effect will continue until Tuesday morning, when the region is affected by a moderately effective air depression that leads to a drop in temperatures, returning to their seasonal rates with an increase in humidity. The weather turns volatile with scattered rain and an increase in wind speeds to exceed 90 km/h on Wednesday, especially in the north of the country.
Note: Average temperatures for February in Beirut are between 11 and 19 degrees, in Tripoli between 9 and 18 degrees, and in Zahle between 3 and 13 degrees.
Expected weather in Lebanon:
Sunday:
Clear to few clouds, with a gradual and noticeable rise in temperatures, accompanied by a decrease in humidity and active winds in the south of the country.
Monday:
Clear to few clouds, with temperatures continuing to rise beyond seasonal levels, especially on the coast, with a further decrease in humidity and active southeasterly winds carrying light layers of dust.
Tuesday:
Partly cloudy with moderate and high clouds, with active winds reaching 55 km/h and carrying light layers of dust, especially in the south of the country. Temperatures gradually drop to return to their seasonal levels, and the humidity level rises, causing clouds to thicken and the weather turns to cloudy with fog on the highlands, as scattered light and muddy rain falls, and the possibility of thunderstorms forming.
Wednesday:
Cloudy with fog on the highlands and a further drop in temperatures. Winds will remain active, exceeding 90 km/h in the northern regions, causing sea waves to rise up to 3 metres. Scattered and sometimes heavy rain will fall, especially in the north of the country, with lightning, thunder, and the possibility of hailstones. Snow will also fall at an altitude of 1800 meters and above. The rain will ease during the night and the weather will gradually improve.
