Leaks described as exclusive to Al Arabiya channel, reported by pro-Syrian regime journalist Shadi Helweh, revealed allegations related to the circumstances of the killing of Luna Al-Shibl, the former media advisor in the Republican Palace, indicating that she was killed before she revealed what was described as “dangerous secrets” related to the head of the Syrian regime, Bashar al-Assad.
According to these leaks, the liquidation process was carried out by direct order from Assad through Mansour Azzam, the former Minister of Presidential Affairs, who was described as the Syrian president’s “black box.”
The information stated that Azzam contacted Luna Al-Shibl and asked her to come to the Republican Palace before her assassination. He also asked her to accompany her companion to her home.
The leaks stated that Al-Shebl was beaten to the head to death, before her death was later announced, as it was said that she was transferred to the intensive care unit in a manner described as “formal,” even though she had died. She also indicated that the handling of her funeral was characterized by deliberate negligence.
In a related context, the leaks spoke of internal conflicts within the Republican Palace, confirming that Al-Shibl enjoyed a strong relationship with the Russians, and that Asma Al-Assad intervened to limit her influence and stripped her of her media duties.
It was also alleged that she was transferring money belonging to Assad to Russia.
The information touched on Iranian accusations against Al-Shibal that she is a “spy,” in addition to allegations that her brother was executed on charges of spying for Israel.
The leaks also reported that it was suspended from work shortly before its liquidation, and also included references to the role of businessman Hossam Al-Qaterji in transporting oil from areas controlled by ISIS and the Syrian Democratic Forces to areas controlled by the Syrian regime.
