Exclusive leaks, according to Al Arabiya channel and reported by pro-Syrian regime media outlet Shadi Helweh, claimed that Luna Al-Shibl, the former media advisor in the Republican Palace, was killed before “dangerous secrets” concerning Syrian regime President Bashar al-Assad were revealed.
According to the leaks, the liquidation order was issued directly from Assad through Mansour Azzam, the former Minister of Presidential Affairs, who was described as the Syrian president’s “black box.”
Information indicates that Azzam called Luna Al-Shibl and asked her to come to the Republican Palace before her assassination, and also asked her to have her escort go to his house.
The leaks stated that the cub was hit on the head to death, and then her death was announced, claiming that she was transferred to intensive care “superficially” despite her death. The leaks added that her funeral was treated with deliberate neglect.
The leaks dealt with internal conflicts in the Republican Palace, confirming that Al-Shibl had strong relations with the Russians, and that Asma Al-Assad intervened to reduce her influence and withdrew her media duties.
It was also alleged that she was transferring money belonging to Assad to Russia.
The information included Iranian accusations against Al-Shibal that she was a “spy,” in addition to allegations that her brother had been executed on charges of spying for Israel.
The leaks also reported that it was suspended from work prior to its liquidation, and pointed to the role of businessman Hossam Al-Qaterji in transporting oil from areas controlled by ISIS and the Syrian Democratic Forces to areas controlled by the Syrian regime.
