The German company “BMW” announced a large-scale recall of its cars worldwide, in anticipation of the possibility of engine fires, according to what was published by the “Bild” newspaper.
In Germany alone, this measure includes the recall of 28,582 vehicles, while the total number of affected vehicles is expected to exceed hundreds of thousands.
In a related context, the specialized magazine kfz-Betrieb reported that the number may reach 575 thousand cars, but BMW has not approved these numbers yet.
It is believed that the reason behind the fire hazard lies in the possibility of a short circuit while the engine is running. The list of models subject to the recall includes: the 2 Series Coupe, the 3, 4, and 5 Series, the 6 Series Gran Turismo, the 7 Series, the X4,
The newspaper “Bild” recalls that “BMW” had previously recalled hundreds of thousands of cars last fall due to a defect in the starter, which could have led to a fire as a result of corrosion in one of the technical components.
