The Norovirus is worrying American Hockey League players who are seriously considering leaving the Olympic Village during the 2026 Winter Games and staying in hotels, according to what the Globe and Mail reported.

According to the newspaper, a number of players expressed their dissatisfaction with the level of comfort, in addition to their extreme fear after infections with the “Norovirus” virus were recorded among the players of the Finnish and Swiss women’s national teams, which doubled health concerns within the village.

However, officials in the organizing committee denied the existence of any crisis, with Communications Director Luca Casassa confirming that the Olympic Village was fully crowded and that living conditions were at the highest level.

TASS quoted him as saying: “The head of the Olympic Village assured me that everyone is satisfied with the standard of accommodation, the food is excellent, and the players are happy, including American hockey stars.”

It is worth noting that the participation of American Hockey League players in the Olympic Games is the first since the 2014 Sochi Games, in which the Canadian team won the gold medal.

The current title holder is the Finland national team, which began its campaign in the 2026 edition with a defeat against Slovakia with a score of 1-4.
