It is rumored that Liverpool FC is preparing to make a big noise in the upcoming summer transfer period, as it is said that it will make a huge financial offer to acquire the services of one of the Barcelona stars before the start of the 2026-2027 season.
According to British news reports, Liverpool is placing French defender Jules Kounde at the top of its wanted list to strengthen its defense line, after a season that witnessed fluctuations in performance that almost cost the team the English Premier League title.
Sources indicate that the Reds’ management is willing to offer an amount of 80 million euros to convince Kounde to join the team’s ranks. It is noteworthy that the player occupies the positions of right-back and center-back, and is considered one of the main pillars of the “Barcelona” squad during the past two seasons.
Although the market value of Jules Kounde (27 years old) is about 65 million euros, Liverpool plans to increase this amount to ensure the completion of the deal next July.
Kounde’s contract with Barcelona expires on June 30, 2030, but he may be the first of the new deals that Anfield will witness after the arrival of his compatriots, Hugo Ekitiki and Ibrahima Konate.
During the current season, Kounde participated in 32 matches in various competitions, and succeeded in scoring 3 goals, including two goals in the Champions League, in addition to 3 assists, to remain one of the main pillars of coach Hansi Flick’s team.
It should be noted that “Kunde” joined “Barcelona” in the 2022-2023 season, coming from “Seville” after starting his career in the French “Bordeaux” (2017-2019), and he renewed his contract with the Catalan club until the year 2030 last August.
Barcelona currently leads the Spanish League with 58 points from 23 matches, one point ahead of its traditional rival, Real Madrid.
