The National Center for Geophysics announced that an earthquake measuring 2.4 on the Richter scale was recorded in the Machghara area, at 21:29 pm on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

It is noteworthy that on January 28, 2026, Lebanon witnessed an earthquake measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale in the Serghaya region, and it was felt by some residents of the Bekaa villages, according to what a correspondent reported. This earthquake was part of a series of mild tremors that struck the country during that period, and its strength ranged between 2.5 and 3.1 on the Richter scale in various areas, which raised citizens’ concerns about the possibility of broader seismic activity.

In a related context, the Director of the National Center for Geophysics, Marilyn Al-Barracks, had stated to in a previous comment that these tremors fall within the framework of normal seismic activity in Lebanon and the region, stressing that “the earth moves, and when it moves, these tremors occur, and they are recorded normally.” She also pointed out that the spread of news on social media has increased citizens’ notice of these tremors compared to previous years, without this indicating any abnormal change in the seismic situation.
