King Charles III expressed his full readiness to cooperate with the British police in any investigation related to the relationship of his brother, “Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor,” with the American billionaire, “Jeffrey Epstein,” who was convicted of sexual crimes.
In an official statement issued by Buckingham Palace, the palace confirmed that the King demonstrated, “in unprecedented word and deed,” the extent of his deep concern regarding the continuing accusations directed against “Prince Andrew,” noting that the response to these allegations falls upon the Prince himself. The statement affirmed the Palace’s readiness to provide assistance to the police if officially requested to do so, adding that “the thoughts of King Charles III and Queen Camilla remain with the victims of all forms of violence.”
In a related context, Thames Valley Police announced on Monday that they had begun studying information about “Prince Andrew” leaking confidential information to “Epstein” during the period in which he was a member of the royal family and Britain’s special representative for international trade and investment between 2001 and 2011.
Sky News also reported that the massive documents published by the US Department of Justice within the framework of the “Epstein” files include information indicating that “Prince Andrew” provided “Epstein” in 2010 with reports about his trips to Vietnam, Singapore and China, in addition to sensitive information related to investments in Afghanistan.
In 2019, Prince Andrew was forced to give up his official duties as a member of the royal family due to the Epstein scandal, after accusations made by Virginia Giuffre, who claimed that he was among the men who forced her to have sex when she was 17 years old. In 2022, Queen Elizabeth II stripped him of his honorary military titles and honorary roles. He later announced that he would stop using the title of Duke of York, and was then stripped of the title of “prince” following new information about his relationship with “Epstein.”
Despite his repeated denials of these accusations, Prince Andrew reached an out-of-court settlement after filing a lawsuit against him in the United States, and paid compensation estimated at approximately 12 million pounds sterling.
It is worth noting that Epstein was arrested in New York in July 2019 on charges related to sexual assault on minors, before his criminal case was closed after he committed suicide in his cell in August of the same year, amid widespread controversy over his network of relationships that included prominent political and economic figures around the world.
