The head of the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc, MP Mohamed Raad, made a surprise visit to Baabda Palace, ending a short period of stagnation, against the backdrop of successive statements by the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on the issue of weapons, especially the phrases he used in his well-known television interview and in front of the diplomatic corps, which then led to increased tension with Hezbollah.

The president’s positions coincided with a series of movements on the ground by the party’s supporters and supporters, which required quick intervention from Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, who visited Baabda Palace and categorically confirmed that the relationship with the president is “very excellent,” in a clear attempt to block any attempts to destabilize the relationship between Baabda Palace on the one hand, and Ain al-Tineh and Haret Hreik on the other hand.

President Berri’s visit naturally paved the way for removing the accumulated ice on the Baabda – Haret Hreik line. However, sources familiar with the atmosphere of the two parties confirm that communication has not been completely interrupted, and that the “invisible hand” that wove the threads of communication between the two sides, which is meant by Presidential Advisor Andre Rahal, played an important role in bringing viewpoints closer together during the last period.

Yesterday’s meeting was a “heart-washing” session, where matters related to many files were clarified. According to the sources, the two parties agreed that the decision on war and peace is in the hands of the state only, in a clear indication of the presidency’s refusal to link any war on Iran with support from Lebanon that might drag it into a new confrontation.

On the other hand, the necessity of the Israeli enemy’s withdrawal from the occupied territories was emphasized. In this context, Representative Raad stressed not to concede to Israel again, calling on the president not to move to the second phase of withdrawing weapons north of the Litani before Israel takes any corresponding step.

According to the sources, the president did not forget to emphasize to his visitor his sympathy for the people of the south who were displaced from their homes, stressing the necessity of providing them with stability and accelerating reconstruction, out of compassion for their suffering.

The sources also indicate that Representative Raad informed the president that cooperation and coordination with the Lebanese army will continue as it was in the southern Litani region.

The sources explain that the meeting was not limited to the security aspect, but also dealt with the elections file and the necessity of holding them on time, in addition to a number of other internal files.
